JJB Prestige 330 Acoustic Pick Up
JJB Prestige 330 Acoustic Pick Up is for medium to large body steel string acoustic guitars.
There are four versions available:
- 15mm Pad Pickup only
- 20mm Pad Pickup only
- 15mm Pad Pickup with soundhole Passive Volume Control
- 20mm Pad Pickup with soundhole Passive Volume Control
The 15mm configuration is designed for more resonant guitars or ones with thinner soundboards. Both systems have a very similar tone but the smaller system provides a little less output than the bigger sized system. In many cases this slight difference is negated by the higher resonance of a smaller bridgeplate. As a general rule of thumb, if you have a mid-grade or better, solid top, steel string acoustic guitar, the 15mm option is likely to be your best option.
The 20mm size is the best option for 12 string guitars as well as high-string setups. Either size can be used with or without a preamp with fantastic results.
This system utilizes a triple surface transducer design. This results in a very wide frequency range and very natural reproduction of sound. The three-piezo configuration offers a few advantages over single and double piezo systems. Having three piezo’s affords you the opportunity to place them at three different points on the soundboard thus resulting in an improved dynamic range due to the fact that they transmit the resonance found at more than one point. These special surface transducers are under less pressure than under saddle pickups thus decreasing the likelihood of them transmitting a percussive or harsh sound. Each piezo is designed to pick up a string pair as well as the resonance found in a significant
amount of the soundboard. These do not fade or distort at high volume or with high-power systems. The highs are crystal clear while the lows are what they should be, low!

The finished product of our transducers are what JJB pride themselves on. The specially formulated potting (rubberized coating) that is applied to the transducers "stiffens" them up just enough to cut the likelihood of feedback down to almost impossible, yet the consistency of the material used in this process allows the transducers to still pick up a significant amount of resonance from the soundboard. Nobody else does this quite like they do and that is where they have a leg up on the other guys. In fact, they actually developed this coating. It cannot be found anywhere else on the planet! 9 times out of 10, any cases of feedback or any other unwanted noise can be attributed to a compatibility issue with other gear that is used, also rare. You literally have to "try" to create feedback. You would not just be buying a few discs. They are carefully selected to match our tight specs, then the cable is attached and the coating is applied, which is what really makes them what they are.
Blending the JJB Prestige 330 Acoustic pickup withBy: Wayne on 14 April 2023When an acoustic guitar that has this setup is playing lead solos, or rhythm on stage with a loud band, the blend combination can be adjusted to minimise feedback issues by having the blend settings at 65% JJB PrestIge and the 35% Microphone. The JJB Prestige 330 Pickup performs very well with this parallel setup and provides value for money spent. Wayne Johnson WJ Guitars Australia"
